Yonex Astrox 10 (4U) badminton racket

The Astrox 10 is Yonex's entry-level attacking racket and, in Yonex's own words, your first full-carbon racket. It carries the attacking character of the Astrox line in a light, forgiving frame built for players who are still learning the game. A full HM Graphite frame and shaft, a medium flex and an Isometric head give you easy power and a large sweet spot, while the Rotational Generator System helps the racket settle quickly between shots. Yonex's tagline for it, "Built to Start, Made to Attack," sums it up: a beginner's racket that points you toward an aggressive style rather than a purely defensive one. This is the 4U version, developed in Japan and made in China.

What the technology does

  • Full HM Graphite frame and shaft: the whole racket is carbon, not the aluminium or steel-shaft build common at the entry level. That makes it lighter, more responsive and more durable, with a cleaner hitting feel as you progress.
  • Isometric head: the squared-off head shape enlarges the sweet spot, which Yonex measures at around 7% bigger than a conventional round frame. A larger sweet spot means more of your off-centre hits still go where you want, which matters while your timing is developing.
  • Medium flex shaft: the shaft bends and springs back to add power without the fast, sharp swing a stiff racket demands. It is forgiving and easy to generate power with.
  • Rotational Generator System: Yonex balances weight around the frame so the head settles quickly after each shot, which helps you reset for the next one and keeps the racket easy to control on drives and at the net.
  • Control Support Cap: The shaped end cap supports the grip and makes it easier to change grip quickly between shots.

How it plays

The Astrox 10 is light and easy to swing, with a balanced, slightly head-forward feel that leans you toward attacking shots without making the racket hard to handle. The medium flex does a lot of the work on clears and smashes, so you get usable power even while your technique is still coming together. The large Isometric sweet spot keeps mishits in play, and the quick recovery from the Rotational Generator System makes flat drives and net play manageable. Yonex's own swing-robot testing puts the smash about 7% more powerful and the angle around 2 degrees steeper than its reference, which in plain terms means it helps a developing player hit down with a bit more bite. It is not a heavy power weapon, and it is not meant to be. It is a forgiving racket that builds an attacking habit.

Who it suits

  • Beginners who want their first proper full-carbon racket rather than an aluminium starter.
  • New and improving players who want to build an attacking style from the start.
  • Casual and recreational players who want a light, forgiving racket with a large sweet spot.
  • Juniors and adults stepping up from a basic racket who are not ready for a stiff, demanding frame.

Who should skip it

  • Intermediate and advanced players who already generate their own power and want a stiffer shaft and more head weight for a heavier smash. A higher Astrox model is a better fit.
  • Players who specifically want a made-in-Japan or made-in-Taiwan performance racket. This is a made-in-China entry model, priced and built for that purpose.
  • Anyone who strings high. The 28lbs ceiling and forgiving frame are built for lower, beginner-friendly tensions, not a tight high-tension bed.

FAQs

Is the Yonex Astrox 10 good for beginners?
Yes. Yonex designed it as a beginner's first full-carbon attacking racket, with a medium flex and a large Isometric sweet spot that make it forgiving and easy to play.

Is the Astrox 10 head-heavy?
It has a balanced, slightly head-forward feel rather than a true head-heavy balance, which keeps it easy to swing while leaning toward attacking shots.

What tension should I string the Astrox 10 at?
For most beginners, 20 to 23 lb gives the best mix of power and forgiveness. You can go up to 28 lb as your technique develops.

Is the Astrox 10 stiff or flexible?
It has a medium flex, which gives easy power without needing the fast, sharp swing a stiff racket requires.

Where is the Yonex Astrox 10 made?
It is developed in Japan and made in China.

What is the difference between the Astrox 10 and the Astrox 10 DG?
They are different rackets. The Astrox 10 is the 2026 beginner full-carbon model with a medium flex, while the older Astrox 10 DG uses Dynamic Graphite and targets durability and power for a slightly different player, but that's discontinued and a new Astrox Attack 10 DG has been launched.

If you order the Grip, then it will be shipped separately in a corrugated box. The grip will not be applied over the racket to avoid the removal of Barcode/MRP and other useful information. This also helps in understanding that the product is new and unused. Grip color will be assorted/Random, no specific color will be provided.

If you select Custom Stringing, the racket will be strung with the selected string at a maximum of 26 lbs (if the racket supports), otherwise at the maximum tension the racket supports. We don't provide the facility to string more than 26 lbs to avoid transit shock damage.

If you are looking for higher tension, then we suggest that you string it at your end.

There is NO Warranty/Replacement of the strings that break during play, whether that's your first shot or 10th game.

** Custom Stringing Rackets require 2 days extra time for shipping, and such orders can't be cancelled once placed.
