Li-Ning Windstorm 75 S Badminton Racket

The Li-Ning Windstorm 75 S is built around a rare combination most rackets can't deliver: a 75-gram frame that still hits like a head-heavy attacking racket. Most lightweight rackets sacrifice power for speed; the Windstorm 75 S keeps the head-heavy balance that drives smashes while shedding the weight that slows your swing. The result is a racket sized for fast hands and quick rallies that doesn't lose its bite at the front of the court.

The frame is total-carbon, jointless construction — a single seamless carbon fibre piece from grip to head, with no T-joint to absorb energy. Combined with the UHB (Ultra High Balance) shaft design, every gram of swing translates into shot power. Made in China by Li-Ning's official factory and imported into India by Sunlight Sports.

What Makes a 75g Head-Heavy Racket Unusual

Most rackets follow a predictable trade-off: heavier rackets (3U at 85–89g, 4U at 80–84g) carry the weight needed for head-heavy attacking balance, while lightweight rackets (5U/6U at 75–79g) shift to even or head-light balance for speed and defensive play. The Windstorm 75 S breaks this pattern — it puts head-heavy balance into a 75g frame, giving you the smash power of a heavier racket with the swing speed of a defensive one.

This matters most in fast doubles rallies and front-court exchanges where you're flicking, blocking, and counter-attacking constantly. The lightweight feel keeps your reactions sharp; the head-heavy balance means your smashes still hit the floor hard when the opportunity opens up.

Key Features

  • 75-gram superlight frame — among the lightest attacking rackets in Li-Ning's range
  • Head-heavy attacking balance — power-shifted weight distribution for smashes and clears
  • Total carbon jointless frame — no T-joint energy loss; cleaner power transmission to the shuttle
  • UHB shaft with 7mm thickness — reduces air drag during fast swings
  • Flexible shaft — easier loading on slower swings, more forgiving for intermediate players than stiff shafts
  • 30 lbs maximum tension — supports tight string beds for advanced players who want crisp string response
  • Dynamic Optimum Frame — Li-Ning's aerodynamic frame profile that reduces wind resistance on swings
  • G5 grip size — slightly slim grip suited to most Indian player hand sizes

Who Should Buy the Windstorm 75 S

This racket fits well if you fit one of these profiles:

  • You play singles or doubles and want fast hands without giving up smash power
  • You've been using a 4U racket and want to drop weight without losing your attacking game
  • You play long sessions and feel arm fatigue with heavier rackets
  • You're an intermediate player ready to step up from a beginner racket but find pro-level head-heavy 3U rackets too tiring
  • You play mixed doubles where front-court reaction speed matters as much as smash power

If you're a pure power smasher who doesn't play long fast rallies, a heavier 3U head-heavy racket will give you more raw power per swing. If you're a defensive specialist or beginner, a head-light or even-balanced racket will be easier to control. The Windstorm 75 S is for players who want to attack and stay quick.

Frame and Shaft Technology

The "jointless" construction means the frame and shaft are formed as a single carbon fibre piece, without the T-joint where most rackets connect their frame head to the shaft. T-joints absorb a small amount of energy on impact and can become weak points over time. Eliminating the joint creates a cleaner energy path from grip to shuttle and improves the racket's torsional stability — the head twists less on off-centre hits, giving you more accurate shots when you don't catch the shuttle perfectly.

The UHB shaft (Ultra High Balance) is a Li-Ning shaft profile designed for head-heavy rackets to reduce overall swing weight. The 7mm thickness is on the thinner end of badminton shafts, which generally translates to faster swing speed and better whip — at the cost of slightly more flex than thick shafts. Combined with the listed "Flexible" rating, this racket loads up easily for intermediate-level swing speeds.

Stringing Recommendations

The 30 lbs maximum tension is a pro-grade rating, but most players don't need to string anywhere near that high. Recommended ranges:

  • Intermediate players: 24–26 lbs for a forgiving string bed and good repulsion
  • Advanced players: 26–28 lbs for a sharper hitting response on smashes
  • Pro-level players: 28–30 lbs for maximum control and feedback

Recommended strings for an attacking head-heavy racket like this include Li-Ning No. 1, Li-Ning No. 7, or any 0.65–0.68mm power-focused string. For more durability with slightly less repulsion, a 0.70mm string works well. The racket ships unstrung — you'll need to choose a string and arrange installation separately.

Grip and Comfort

G5 is a slightly slim grip size that suits most Indian player hand sizes. If you have larger hands or are used to thicker grips, you can build up the handle with an overgrip during installation. The slim base grip is generally preferable because you can always add overgrips, but you can't make a thick grip thinner.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the weight of the Li-Ning Windstorm 75 S?

The Windstorm 75 S weighs 75 grams unstrung. With strings and grip added, the strung weight is typically 81–83 grams.

Is the Windstorm 75 S head-heavy or head-light?

It's head-heavy, which makes it an attacking racket despite its lightweight 75g frame. Most rackets at this weight are head-light or evenly balanced — the Windstorm 75 S is unusual in combining ultra-light weight with attacking balance.

What is the maximum string tension for this racket?

The maximum recommended tension is 30 lbs. Most intermediate players will be best served at 24–26 lbs, advanced players at 26–28 lbs, and pro-level players at 28–30 lbs.

Does the Windstorm 75 S come strung?

No. The racket ships unstrung. You'll need to choose a string and have it installed separately by a stringer. SportsUncle does not currently offer in-house stringing.

Is this racket good for beginners?

Beginners can use this racket, but it's better suited to intermediate and advanced players. The head-heavy balance rewards good swing technique; beginners still developing their stroke may find an even-balanced or head-light racket easier to control. The flexible shaft does make it more forgiving than stiff pro rackets, but a true beginner might be better served by Li-Ning's beginner range.

What grip size does the Windstorm 75 S have?

The grip size is G5, which is a slightly slim grip standard. If you prefer a thicker grip, you can add an overgrip to build it up to your preferred thickness.

Where is the Windstorm 75 S manufactured?

The racket is manufactured in China by Li-Ning Sports Goods Co. Ltd., the official Li-Ning factory, and imported into India by Sunlight Sports Global Pvt. Ltd.

Is the Windstorm 75 S good for doubles?

Yes — particularly for mixed doubles and fast doubles formats where front-court reactions matter alongside attacking power. The lightweight frame keeps your hands fast for net play, while the head-heavy balance gives you smash power when opportunities arise.

What strings work well with the Windstorm 75 S?

For attacking play, 0.65–0.68mm power-focused strings work well, including Li-Ning No. 1, Li-Ning No. 7, or similar power strings from other brands. For more durability with slightly less repulsion, a 0.70mm string is also a solid choice. Match the string to your tension preference and how often you're willing to restring.

If you order the Grip, then it will be shipped separately in a corrugated box. The grip will not be applied over the racket to avoid the removal of Barcode/MRP and other useful information. This also helps in understanding that the product is new and unused. Grip color will be assorted/Random, no specific color will be provided.

If you select Custom Stringing, the racket will be strung with the selected string at a maximum of 26 lbs (if the racket supports), otherwise at the maximum tension the racket supports. We don't provide the facility to string more than 26 lbs to avoid transit shock damage.

If you are looking for higher tension, then we suggest that you string it at your end.

There is NO Warranty/Replacement of the strings that break during play, whether that's your first shot or 10th game.

** Custom Stringing Rackets require 2 days extra time for shipping, and such orders can't be cancelled once placed.
