Hundred Rock 80 badminton racket: 5U, 78g, extremely head heavy

The Hundred Rock 80 is a 78g (5U) carbon fibre badminton racket with an extremely head-heavy 302 mm balance point and a flexible 7.0 mm shaft. It is built for club-level attacking players who want smash power from a light frame that still swings fast.

Most 5U rackets are made head light for quick defence. The Rock 80 goes the other way: light in the hand, heavy in the head.

Why the Rock 80 hits harder than its weight suggests

  • 302 mm balance point: more of the weight sits in the head. The frame carries that momentum into smashes and full-length clears.
  • 78g total weight: the racket is still easy to lift and reset between shots. That means less strain on the wrist and shoulder over a long session.
  • Flexible shaft: the shaft bends on the backswing and kicks through at contact. You get pace and depth without needing a fast, fully trained swing.
  • Carbon fibre frame: lighter and more responsive than the aluminium and steel rackets found at the beginner end of the market.

Who should buy the Hundred Rock 80

  • Club players moving up from a beginner racket who want more power on smashes
  • Singles players who attack from the back of the court
  • Doubles players who usually take the rear-court attacking role
  • Players with a moderate swing speed, since the flexible shaft does part of the work
  • Anyone looking for a lightweight head heavy badminton racket under ₹2,000

Who should skip it

  • Net players in doubles: the head-heavy balance feels slower on fast drives, blocks and interceptions. A head-light or even-balance racket will suit you better.
  • Advanced hard hitters: if you string above 30 lbs or prefer a stiff shaft for sharp control, look at a stiffer, higher-tension frame.
  • Control-first players: if you win points with placement on flat exchanges, a flexible head-heavy frame is not the best match.

How the Rock 80 plays on court

Smashes: this is where the racket is strongest. The heavy head and flexible shaft give steep, heavy smashes even when your timing is not perfect.

Clears and lifts: reaching the back line is easy, which helps players still building strength.

Defence: it is quicker than a 4U head-heavy racket thanks to the 78g weight. It is still not as fast as a head-light frame in quick exchanges.

Recommended string tension

The Rock 80 takes up to 30 lbs. For most club players, 22 to 26 lbs gives the best balance of power, feel and string life on a flexible shaft.

Move towards the top of that range only once your timing is consistent. Lower tension gives a bigger sweet spot and easier depth. Stringing is available as a paid add-on.

Hundred Rock 80 FAQs

Is the Hundred Rock 80 good for beginners?

Yes, for improving beginners who already have a basic overhead swing. The 78g weight is easy to handle, and the flexible shaft helps generate power. Complete first-timers may find the head-heavy balance slow in defence, so a head-light racket is an easier first choice.

What is the balance point of the Hundred Rock 80?

The Hundred Rock 80 has a balance point of 302 mm, which Hundred classifies as extremely head heavy. Most rackets above roughly 295 mm count as head heavy, so the Rock 80 sits at the power end of the range.

What does 5U mean on a badminton racket?

5U is a weight class covering rackets from 75 g to 79.9 g. The Rock 80 weighs 78 g, so it sits in the 5U class. 4U rackets weigh 80 g to 84.9 g. A 5U racket is lighter to swing and easier on the arm, while a 4U frame gives slightly more stability.

Is the Hundred Rock 80 good for doubles?

It suits the rear-court player in doubles, who attacks with smashes and drops. It is less suited to the front-court player, because head-heavy rackets feel slower for quick net interceptions and flat drives.

What is the maximum string tension for the Rock 80?

The maximum string tension for the Hundred Rock 80 is 30 lbs. Stringing above that limit can damage the frame and is not covered under warranty. Most club players get the best results between 22 and 26 lbs.

Is the Rock 80 a good attacking badminton racket under ₹2,000?

Yes. A 5U carbon frame with a 302 mm balance and a flexible shaft is an uncommon combination at this price. It gives club players smash power that usually needs a heavier or costlier racket.

If you order the Grip, then it will be shipped separately in a corrugated box. The grip will not be applied over the racket to avoid the removal of Barcode/MRP and other useful information. This also helps in understanding that the product is new and unused. Grip color will be assorted/Random, no specific color will be provided.

If you select Custom Stringing, the racket will be strung with the selected string at a maximum of 27 lbs (if the racket supports), 2-knot stringing, otherwise, at the maximum tension the racket supports. We don't provide the facility to string more than 27 lbs to avoid transit shock damage.

If you are looking for higher tension, then we suggest that you string it at your end.

There is NO Warranty/Replacement of the strings that break during play, whether that's your first shot or 10th game.

** Custom Stringing Rackets require 2 extra days for shipping, and such orders can't be cancelled once placed.
