The Li-Ning GC200R is a thin cotton towel grip supplied as a 10-metre roll, the same terry-cloth grip used by many Li-Ning-sponsored players. It is built for one job: absorbing sweat so the racket handle does not slip during long, high-intensity rallies. A single roll covers roughly 15 rackets, making it the practical choice for clubs, academies, and players who regrip often.
Why a towel grip instead of a synthetic grip
Synthetic PU grips look neat and last longer, but they get slippery the moment your hands sweat heavily. Cotton towel grips like the GC200R do the opposite: the terry surface soaks up sweat and the grip actually feels more secure as the game heats up. If you play in humid Indian conditions, sweat through PU grips, or simply prefer the tacky cushioned feel of a towel grip, this is the right choice. The trade-off is honest: towel grips need replacing more often than synthetic grips because they hold moisture. The 10m roll format is designed exactly for that, giving you many regrips at a low cost per grip.
Who the GC200R suits
- Heavy sweaters whose synthetic grips turn slippery mid-match
- Humid-climate players across most of India where sweat management is the main grip problem
- Clubs and academies regripping multiple rackets, where the per-grip cost of a roll matters
- Players who prefer a thin grip for a closer feel of the handle bevels and more wrist control
- Anyone who regrips frequently and wants a roll rather than buying single grips repeatedly
Thin profile: what it means for you
At 0.6mm the GC200R is a thin towel grip. A thin grip keeps the handle close to its original size, which suits players who like to feel the bevels for finger-power shots and quick grip changes. If you have large hands or want a cushioned, built-up handle, wrap it over the existing grip rather than replacing the base grip, or choose a thicker towel grip instead. Most club players replace the base grip directly with this for the cleanest feel.

How to apply the GC200R
- Remove the old grip from the handle if you are replacing the base grip
- Cut the required length from the roll (one racket needs roughly 65 to 70 cm)
- Peel the backing and start at the bottom of the handle, angling the grip upward
- Wrap with consistent overlap, keeping firm even tension, working towards the top
- Finish below the shaft and secure with the finishing tape
- Replace when the grip stays damp, loses tackiness, or starts to smell, which on a towel grip is normal and means it has done its job
Common questions
How many grips does one roll make? About 15 rackets from a 10-metre roll, depending on how much overlap you use when wrapping.
Is the GC200R an overgrip or a replacement grip? It is a towel grip best used as a replacement base grip for the strongest sweat absorption. It can also be wrapped over an existing grip if you want a thicker handle, though most players replace the base grip with it.
GC200R vs GC100R, what is the difference? The GC100R is the thicker towel grip; the GC200R is the thinner one. Choose the GC200R for a closer feel of the handle and more wrist control, the GC100R for a more cushioned, built-up handle.
Towel grip or synthetic grip for sweaty hands? For heavy sweating, a cotton towel grip like the GC200R outperforms synthetic PU grips, which become slippery when wet. Towel grips do need more frequent replacement, which is why the roll format is the economical choice.
Which colour will I receive? Colours are assorted and shipped based on stock. We cannot guarantee a specific colour unless stated on the product option.
Can I use it for tennis or squash? Yes. The 30mm width and 10m length suit tennis and squash handles as well, though it is most popular for badminton.
Is this genuine Li-Ning stock? SportsUncle sources Li-Ning grips through authorised channels. The roll ships in original Li-Ning packaging with GC200R markings.
