The Yonex Arcsaber 73 Light (model ARC 73 Light) is a 5U lightweight control racket from Yonex's Arcsaber series, developed in Japan and made in China. It is built around the Aero-Box frame and a flexible shaft, aimed at beginners and improving intermediate players who want easy handling and control rather than raw smash power. SportsUncle ships the genuine Sunrise-imported stock.
Is the Yonex Arcsaber 73 Light head heavy?
This is the most common question about this racket, so here is the direct answer. The Arcsaber 73 Light is officially an even-balance to slightly head-heavy racket. Because the overall weight is low (5U), most players feel it as slightly head-heavy on the swing rather than genuinely heavy. It is not an attacking head-heavy racket like the Astrox series. The head-heavy sensation gives you a little extra weight behind clears and drives, but the light frame keeps it easy to maneuver at the net and in defence. If you want a true power racket, this is not it. If you want a light, controllable racket with a touch of head weight for clears, it fits well.
What is the maximum string tension?
The Yonex Arcsaber 73 Light is rated for a maximum of 30 lbs. SportsUncle strings up to 26 lbs in-house to avoid transit shock damage. If you want tension between 27 and 30 lbs, we recommend getting it strung locally after delivery. Stringing this frame above its rating, or at high tension on a slim flexible shaft, increases the risk of frame and grommet damage, so 24 to 27 lbs is the practical sweet spot for most club players.
Honest review: who should and should not buy this
The Arcsaber 73 Light is a genuine Yonex graphite racket at an entry price, and for the right player it is excellent value. It is not a do-everything racket, so set expectations correctly before buying.
Buy it if you are:
- A beginner or improving intermediate who wants a light, forgiving, control-oriented Yonex racket
- A player who prefers fast handling, quick net play, and easy defence over heavy smashing
- Looking for a genuine Yonex graphite frame under ₹2,000 rather than an unbranded racket
- A doubles player who values maneuverability and quick reactions
Look elsewhere if you are:
- An attacking singles player who relies on steep, heavy smashes (consider the Astrox series)
- A hard hitter who strings at 28 lbs or above regularly (a stiffer shaft frame will suit you better)
- Expecting tournament-grade durability under heavy daily smashing
A note on durability
Owner feedback on this racket is consistent: it performs well for control play but it is a light entry-level frame, not a heavy-duty tournament racket. Players who smash hard or string above the recommended tension report shorter frame life. Used within its intended control role and at sensible tension (24 to 26 lbs), it lasts well. Used as a smash racket at high tension, it will not. We mention this openly so you buy it for the right reason and are satisfied with it.
Key features
- Aero-Box frame: aerodynamic top section for faster swing speed, transitioning to a box section mid-frame for stability and accuracy
- Isometric head shape: squared frame keeps string lengths even for a larger, more forgiving sweet spot
- Built-in T-joint: moulded one-piece frame-to-shaft join for a torque-free, durable connection
- Flexible slim shaft: the flex stores and releases energy, helping repulsion for players with slower swing speeds, and aids control
- 5U lightweight build: easy to handle, low arm fatigue over long sessions, quick at the net

Common questions
What is the price of the Yonex Arcsaber 73 Light? It is ₹1,790 on SportsUncle, against an MRP of ₹3,390 (47% off). Free delivery across India is included.
Is the Arcsaber 73 Light good for beginners? Yes. The light weight, forgiving Isometric sweet spot, and flexible shaft make it one of the more beginner-friendly genuine Yonex rackets, while still being capable enough to grow into at intermediate level.
Is it good for smashing? It is a control racket, not a power racket. You can smash with it, but it will not deliver the steep, heavy smashes of a head-heavy Astrox frame. Choose it for control and all-round play, not for an attacking smash game.
Arcsaber 73 Light vs Astrox Lite 27i, which is better? Both are 5U beginner-intermediate rackets. The Arcsaber 73 Light leans control and even balance; the Astrox Lite 27i leans slightly more towards attack. Pick the Arcsaber for control and net play, the Astrox Lite for a more aggressive feel.
What tension should I string it at? For most club players, 24 to 26 lbs gives the best balance of power and control on this frame. Lower tension (22 to 24 lbs) adds repulsion for beginners; higher tension (26 to 28 lbs) adds control for advanced players but reduces frame life.
Is this genuine Yonex stock? Yes. SportsUncle sells only Sunrise Sports imported Yonex stock with intact MRP labels and importer markings. Verify the hologram on receipt; the 10-day replacement window covers any issue.

If you order the Grip, then it will be shipped separately in a corrugated box. The grip will not be applied over the racket to avoid the removal of Barcode/MRP and other useful information. This also helps in understanding that the product is new and unused. Grip color will be assorted/Random, no specific color will be provided.
If you select Custom Stringing, the racket will be strung with the selected string at a maximum of 26 lbs (if the racket supports), otherwise at the maximum tension the racket supports. We don't provide the facility to string more than 26 lbs to avoid transit shock damage.
If you are looking for higher tension, then we suggest that you string it at your end.
There is NO Warranty/Replacement of the strings that break during play, whether that's your first shot or 10th game.
** Custom Stringing Rackets require 2 days extra time for shipping, and such orders can't be cancelled once placed.
