The Yonex ZR 100 Light is the entry-level Yonex badminton racket built for beginners, casual players, and society or apartment-society games. This pack of 2 is supplied pre-strung with full covers, so you can take both rackets out of the box and play. SportsUncle ships the original Yonex ZR 100 Light imported by Sunrise Sports India.
Is the Yonex ZR 100 Light good or bad?
The ZR 100 Light is good for what it is and not good for what it isn't. It is a recreational racket built around an aluminium frame and steel shaft. That construction makes it durable enough to survive the floor scrapes, wall taps, and casual mishandling that beginner play involves. It is not a tournament racket and it will not behave like a graphite racket on smashes or fast clears. If you are a club player or above, look at the Yonex Nanoray, Astrox, or Arcsaber series instead.
For a parent buying their child's first racket, two friends starting weekend badminton, or a society game where rackets get borrowed and abused, the ZR 100 Light is the right choice. The pack of 2 at ₹1,325 works out to roughly ₹663 per racket with covers included.
Yonex ZR 100 vs ZR 100 Light: what is the difference?
The difference is weight and balance. The standard ZR 100 is heavier and slightly head-heavy, suited to players who want more power on clears. The ZR 100 Light is lighter and more even-balanced, which makes it easier to swing for beginners and children. For first-time players we recommend the Light version. Players who already have some wrist strength and want more power on rear-court shots can go with the standard ZR 100.
About the T-joint
The Yonex ZR 100 Light uses a lightweight reinforced T-joint where the shaft meets the frame. This is the structural weak point on most aluminium rackets, and the reinforced T-joint is what allows Yonex to offer this racket at the entry price without the frame coming loose at the joint after a few weeks of play. It is a noticeable durability advantage over unbranded aluminium rackets at similar prices.
