The Evolution of the Astrox Series: Enter the "Nextage"
For years, badminton players had a difficult choice: buy the expensive, stiff "Pro" rackets (Made in Japan) that are hard to use, or buy the cheaper "Play" rackets (Made in China) that lack a premium feel.
The Yonex Astrox Nextage changes everything. It is a brand-new category designed for intermediate to Advanced Club Players. It offers the premium "Made in Taiwan" build quality with a unique, user-friendly hitting feel that Yonex calls "addictive."
Technology Breakdown: What makes it special?
Don't get confused by the jargon. Here is exactly what the tech does for your game:
1. VDM (Vibration Dampening Mesh)
The Problem: Stiff graphite rackets vibrate when you hit the shuttle off-centre. These vibrations travel down the shaft into your elbow, causing fatigue and injury over time.
The Solution: Yonex has wrapped a special stretchy mesh material around the graphite inside the handle. This absorbs twice the amount of vibration compared to standard carbon.
The Result: A "muted," soft, and incredibly comfortable feel. You can play smash-heavy games for 3 hours without your arm feeling dead.
2. Rotational Generator System (RGS)
Standard head-heavy rackets feel sluggish when defending. The Astrox Nextage uses RGS to distribute weight across three points: the frame top, the T-joint, and the grip end.
The Result: The racket feels head-heavy when you smash (for power), but feels balanced and fast when you defend or drive. It snaps back, ready for the next shot, instantly.
3. Aero + Box Frame Hybrid
The frame shape is a hybrid. The top is aerodynamic (for swing speed), while the sides are boxy (for stability). This gives you the best of both worlds: fast reactions at the net and solid power from the backcourt.
SportsUncle Play-Test Review
We took the Astrox Nextage (4U/G5) to the court to see if the hype is real. Here is our honest feedback.
Power (Smashes): 8.5/10
It is not as explosive as the Astrox 100ZZ, but it is easier to use. The medium flex shaft helps generate power even if your timing isn't perfect.
Control (Net Play): 9/10
This is where the VDM shines. When playing tumbling net shots or blocks, the racket feels "quiet" in your hand. The shuttle goes exactly where you aim without any nervous vibration.
Speed (Drives/Defense): 8/10
Despite being head-heavy, it is surprisingly manoeuvrable. In fast flat exchanges (drives), it doesn't lag behind.

- Buy Astrox 99 Play if: You have a very low budget (under ₹3500) and are a beginner.
- Buy Astrox Nextage if: You have a mid-budget (₹6000+) and want near-pro performance with maximum comfort. (Best Value).
- Buy Astrox 100ZZ if: You are an advanced tournament player with a high budget (₹16,000+) and perfect technique.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does it come strung?
A: The factory version usually comes unstrung, but at Sports Uncle, we offer professional stringing options. Choose your string and tension above!
Q: Is this better than Astrox 77 Play?
A: Yes, significantly. The Astrox 77 Play is Made in China with basic graphite. The Nextage is Made in Taiwan with VDM and Nanomesh Neo. The difference in hitting feel and durability is massive.
Q: I play doubles mostly. Is this good?
A: Yes. While Astrox is known for singles power, the 4U weight and aerodynamic frame of the Nextage make it excellent for back-court doubles players who need to smash often.

If you order the Grip, then it will be shipped separately in a corrugated box. The grip will not be applied over the racket to avoid the removal of Barcode/MRP and other useful information. This also helps in understanding that the product is new and unused. Grip color will be assorted/Random, no specific color will be provided.
If you select Custom Stringing, the racket will be strung with the selected string at a maximum of 26 lbs (if the racket supports), otherwise at the maximum tension the racket supports. We don't provide the facility to string more than 26 lbs to avoid transit shock damage.
If you are looking for higher tension, then we suggest that you string it at your end.
There is NO Warranty/Replacement of the strings that break during play, whether that's your first shot or 10th game.
** Custom Stringing Rackets require 2 days extra time for shipping, and such orders can't be cancelled once placed.
