What SportsUncle is

SportsUncle is an online sports equipment store based in Meerut, India. We've been selling sports gear across India since July 2016, and as of December 2025 we've fulfilled over 3.6 million orders.

We stock equipment for badminton, cricket, tennis, football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, boxing, and skating — for beginners through tournament-level players. Our category pages let you filter by player level, budget, brand, and size, so you can narrow 400 options down to the 10 that actually fit how you play.

Why "Uncle"?

In India, an uncle isn't a job title — it's a relationship. It's the person who'll give you a straight answer about which racket to buy, who won't sell you something just because it's in stock, and who's been around the trade long enough to know what actually works. That's the standard we wanted for a sports shop. It's also why our buying guides read like advice from someone who plays, not marketing copy.

Where our depth really is

We sell across many sports, but if we're being honest, we know the most: badminton. We stock Yonex, Li-Ning, Victor, Apacs, and Woods, and we're often one of the first sites in India to list new racket and shoe launches — sometimes for pre-order before they reach general retail. We're an authorised retailer for Yonex, Li-Ning, Hundred, Victor, Apacs, Woods, SS, SF and many more. Other brands come through authorised Indian distributors.

Cricket, tennis, and football are our other strong categories, supported by buying guides we've written ourselves rather than syndicated from manufacturer copy.

How we handle authenticity

Counterfeit sports gear is a real problem in India, especially badminton rackets. Our approach has three parts:

  • We source only through authorised channels. If we can't get a product genuinely, we don't list it.
  • On product pages where fakes are common, we publish how to verify authenticity yourself — serial number checks, holograms, brand authenticity tools.
  • If you're ever unsure about something you've received, we share the manufacturer's contact details so you can verify directly with them. We'd rather you check than wonder.

Who runs it

SportsUncle is founded and run by Aashish Rrastogi, based in Meerut. Ashish personally oversees product sourcing, the website, content, and customer escalations. SportsUncle is a small team — not a 200-person operation with a marketing department — and the people picking what we stock are players and fans of the sports they buy for.

What we won't claim

We're not the cheapest site on the internet, nor the biggest. There are sellers who'll undercut us on certain SKUs by sourcing through channels we won't touch. What we try to be is the most reliable place in India to buy genuine sports equipment from a team that actually understands the products.
