What is a badminton cushion wrap
A cushion wrap is the soft cotton wrap that goes directly onto a bare racket handle. It builds up the grip thickness, absorbs sweat, and gives the handle the spongy feel most players prefer. Every Yonex, Li-Ning, and Victor racket ships with a cushion wrap already fitted from the factory, and you replace it once the original wrap wears out.
Cushion wraps are different from overgrips. A cushion wrap replaces the original handle wrap. An overgrip wraps on top of the cushion wrap as a thin sweat absorbing layer. Most players use both, with the cushion wrap underneath as the foundation grip and an overgrip on top that gets replaced more often.
About Superjockk cushion wrap
SportsUncle stocks Superjockk cushion wraps. Superjockk is an independent Indian brand that has built a strong following among club and tournament players for its soft, absorbent cotton wrap and consistent build quality. Customers who have switched from factory original wraps to Superjockk consistently report a softer feel and better sweat absorption at a lower price point than imported alternatives.
The Superjockk wrap fits any standard badminton racket handle from Yonex, Li-Ning, Victor, Hundred, Apacs, and other brands. Each pack ships with finishing tape included.
When to replace your cushion wrap
Replace the cushion wrap when it darkens, smells, or feels hard and lifeless. The factory wrap on most rackets lasts six to twelve months of regular play before it needs replacement. If you use an overgrip on top, the cushion wrap underneath lasts much longer because the overgrip absorbs the sweat first.
A worn cushion wrap loses its sponginess and the handle starts to feel hollow and slippery. At that point, even a fresh overgrip on top will not give you the grip feel you want. Replace the cushion wrap and start fresh.
How to fit a cushion wrap
Remove the old wrap by peeling it off from the top of the handle. Clean any adhesive residue from the handle with a dry cloth. Take the new cushion wrap and align the tapered end with the butt cap at the bottom. Pull the wrap taut and spiral upward, overlapping each turn by about two millimetres. Finish at the top of the handle and secure with the finishing tape included in the packet.
Apply firm tension as you wrap. A loose cushion wrap shifts during play and feels uneven. If you find a section bunching up, unwind to that point and rewrap with more pull.
Cushion wrap and overgrip together
Most club and tournament players use a cushion wrap as the base layer and add an overgrip on top. The cushion wrap gives the handle thickness and softness. The overgrip adds tackiness and gets replaced every two to three weeks. This combination gives the best feel and the longest service life from your cushion wrap.
If you only want one layer, use a cushion wrap. An overgrip alone is too thin to wrap directly onto a bare handle and will not give you a comfortable grip.

Frequently asked questions
Which cushion wrap does SportsUncle sell?
We stock the Superjockk cushion wrap. Superjockk is an independent Indian brand with a strong reputation among club and tournament players for its soft cotton feel, sweat absorption, and consistent quality. Each pack includes finishing tape.
What is the difference between a cushion wrap and an overgrip?
A cushion wrap is the thick base wrap that goes directly onto a bare racket handle and gives the grip its body and softness. An overgrip is a thin tacky layer that wraps on top of the cushion wrap and gets replaced frequently. Most players use both together.
Will the Superjockk cushion wrap fit my Yonex, Li-Ning, or Victor racket?
Yes. Cushion wraps are not brand specific and fit any standard badminton racket handle. The Superjockk wrap works on Yonex, Li-Ning, Victor, Hundred, Apacs, and other badminton rackets without modification.
How often should I replace a badminton cushion wrap?
Replace the cushion wrap every six to twelve months for regular players. If you use an overgrip on top, the cushion wrap underneath lasts much longer because the overgrip takes the sweat. Replace it sooner if it darkens, smells, or feels hard.
Can I use a cushion wrap and an overgrip together?
Yes, and most players do. The cushion wrap gives the handle thickness and softness while the overgrip adds tackiness and absorbs sweat. The overgrip is replaced every two to three weeks while the cushion wrap underneath lasts much longer.
Do I need to remove the old cushion wrap before fitting a new one?
Yes. Remove the old wrap completely and clean off any adhesive residue before applying the new wrap. Stacking a new cushion wrap on top of the old one makes the handle too thick and the wrap will shift during play.
