Victor Thruster HMR Pro (Hammer Pro) 4U badminton racket

The Thruster HMR Pro is Victor's update of the classic Thruster Hammer, and it is built around one idea: accessible power. You get a head-heavy frame that loads the smash, paired with a flexible 6.8mm shaft that does a lot of the work for you. That combination gives a trampoline-style kick on contact, so you can hit hard without the fast, sharp swing a stiff power racket demands. The 4U version covered here strings up to 32 lb and suits club attackers and improving players who want smash weight from a forgiving, durable racket.

What the technology does

  • Flexible 6.8mm shaft: the shaft bends and springs back through the swing, adding a trampoline effect that helps generate power even on slower or less-developed swings. The 6.8mm profile is on the thicker, sturdier side, which favours durability over the fine feel of an ultra-slim shaft.
  • Power Box frame: the box-shaped frame cross-section resists twisting on off-centre hits and lets the frame hold higher string tension without distorting.
  • Fiber Reinforced System (FRS): added frame reinforcement that improves durability and lets the racket cope with higher tension. This is the main upgrade over the original Hammer.
  • Free Core handle: an injection-moulded handle that lets the shaft move more freely from the grip, which smooths the swing and improves comfort and feel.
  • Single-pass grommets: the grommet construction reduces friction between strings, which cuts tension loss and helps the string bed last longer.

How it plays

Balance is head-heavy, so weight sits up in the head and gives the smash its weight from the rear court. The flexible shaft is what sets this racket apart from stiffer power frames: it loads and releases like a spring, so you get easy depth and power on clears and smashes without having to swing fast. That makes it forgiving on timing and friendly to players who are still building their stroke. The trade-off is the usual one for a flexible shaft, namely a little less control and a slightly softer, less connected feel at the top end than a stiff racket gives. The Free Core handle keeps the swing smooth, and the thick 6.8mm shaft and Power Box frame make it a durable racket for regular club use.

Who it suits

  • Beginners and improvers stepping up to a proper power racket who want smash weight without a demanding stiff shaft.
  • Intermediate club attackers who generate power through the swing and shoulder rather than a sharp wrist snap.
  • Players who want a durable, forgiving head-heavy racket for regular play.
  • Anyone upgrading from the original Thruster Hammer who wants more durability and high-tension headroom.

Who should skip it

  • Advanced players who already generate high racket-head speed and want a stiff shaft for control and a flat, crisp response. A flexible shaft will feel soft and less precise to you, so a stiffer power frame is a better fit.
  • Doubles players who need quick hands and fast defence. The head weight slows you down in the flat exchange.
  • Players who string very high for a firm, controlled bed. The flexible shaft is built around easy power, not a taut, connected high-tension feel.

FAQs

Is the Victor Thruster HMR Pro stiff or flexible?
Flexible. Victor rates the shaft at the flexible end of its scale, which is what gives the racket its easy, trampoline-style power on slower swings.

Is the Thruster HMR Pro head-heavy?
Yes. The balance is head-heavy, so weight sits in the head and adds power to clears and smashes from the back of the court.

What is the maximum string tension of the HMR Pro 4U?
Up to 32 lb (14.5 kg). The Power Box frame and Fiber Reinforced System let it hold higher tension without the frame distorting.

Is the Thruster HMR Pro good for beginners?
Yes, this is one of its strengths. The head-heavy weight plus a flexible shaft gives power without needing a fast, sharp swing, so it suits beginners and improvers well.

What is the difference between the Thruster Hammer and the HMR Pro?
The Pro adds the Fiber Reinforced System into the Power Box frame for more durability and high-tension resistance, and pairs the 6.8mm shaft with the Free Core handle. It is the upgraded version of the classic Hammer.

If you order the Grip, then it will be shipped separately in a corrugated box. The grip will not be applied over the racket to avoid the removal of Barcode/MRP and other useful information. This also helps in understanding that the product is new and unused. Grip color will be assorted/Random, no specific color will be provided.

If you select Custom Stringing, the racket will be strung with the selected string at a maximum of 26 lbs (if the racket supports), otherwise at the maximum tension the racket supports. We don't provide the facility to string more than 26 lbs to avoid transit shock damage.

If you are looking for higher tension, then we suggest that you string it at your end.

There is NO Warranty/Replacement of the strings that break during play, whether that's your first shot or 10th game.

** Custom Stringing Rackets require 2 days extra time for shipping, and such orders can't be cancelled once placed.
